A walkie stacker, or just "stacker," is a power-operated device, controlled by an operator standing behind it, that lifts, stacks and transports pallets. Walkie stackers can be either manual or powered.[1]

The walkie stacker was pioneered in the 1950's as an alternative to rolling ladders in small warehouse environments. While originally created as a manual push around vehicle, it was later introduced in a powered version that included an electric power head.

Today walkie stackers are produced by many manufacturers worldwide to fulfill a wide range of basic material handling tasks. Due to the design's extremely versatile "straddle" design characteristics, walkie stackers can operate in very small spaces relative to other forklift designs and typically require very little maintenance. In addition, because the initial purchase price is often a fraction of other pallet lifting equipment, walkie stackers are often used as a supplement to larger forklifts or to facilitate ergonomic work positioning.[2]
