A pallet truck is the motorized version of the pallet jack. There are two types of pallet truck: the "walkie" and the "rider."

Walkie Pallet Truck
A walkie pallet truck requires the operator to walk alongside the truck as he or she moves a load. Walkies are ideal for moving heavy loads over short distances.
Rider Pallet Truck
A rider pallet truck has a small platform on which the operator stands or sits while moving a load. These trucks are more suited for frequent moving of loads or the moving of loads over greater distances, since they do not require as much strain on the worker and typically can travel at greater speeds than the walkie. Riders are simple to operate, due to minimal controls. These trucks are not recommended for tall or unstable loads since there is no overhead guard to protect the operator.[1]
