A battery charger is a device for charging or recharging batteries.[1] Also known as charger, a battery charger is a rectifier unit used to change alternating to direct power for charging a storage battery.[2]
Charging Various Types of Batteries
- Lead acid batteries require a minimum of 2.15 volts per cell to charge. The number of volts required increase as the temperature drops.[3]
- An Absorbed glass mat battery may be charged at C/3 (where C is the number of amp-hours of battery capacity) or faster, as long as it is not overcharged.[4]
