Advanced planning and scheduling, or APS, refers to a software system designed to integrate with enterprise resource planning and manufacturing resource planning systems to enhance the short term production planning and scheduling systems that are somewhat inadequate in MRP systems. APS systems have extensive programming logic that allows them to be more effective in dealing with rapidly changing customer demands.[1] A type of system that tracks costs based on the activities responsible for driving costs in producing manufactured goods. An APS allocates raw materials and production capacity in order to balance demand and plant capacity. [2]
