As solar energy continues to increase in popularity, solar cell manufacturers are looking for handling systems that can accommodate their unique products. Photovoltaic (PV) cells are very delicate wafer-like structures that are becoming even smaller and thinner as the technology improves. The equipment used to transport these cells must therefore be able to carry them without breaking or damaging the thin structures. A conveyor system, designed and built by Owens Design, Inc., is used that features low back-pressure accumulation, which minimizes damage to the cells, and multi-lane throughput for high-volume, consistent product movement.
