Oak Brook, IL – According to a survey by Packaging Digest, 69 percent of systems integrators said subject-matter experts—the packagers and end-users— are the ones who decide on the type of packaging equipment for an automated packaging project. Only 20 percent said that they make the choice themselves.

When choosing automation components, systems integrators look for reliability/performance (55 percent), price-to-performance value (45 percent) and quality/durability (39 percent). Multiple answers were allowed.

They also said the brand-related characteristics most important when evaluating automation vendors were technical support (53 percent), previous experience with the vendor (41 percent) and vendor reputation/longevity (49 percent).
