Caterpillar Logistics—the company planning to raise a 1.3 million-sq.-ft. distribution center in Clayton—is a wholly owned subsidiary of a company that has weathered its share of tough times during the past 8 decades. The distribution center will be backed by a familiar name in the construction equipment business, Caterpillar Inc. “I think it’s great for the Miami Valley,” said Mark Jones, president of Miami Industrial Trucks, which rents out and leases construction and industrial equipment, including CAT forklifts. “It’s going to create 500-plus jobs in an economy that’s definitely transitioning from a manufacturing base to a distribution base.”
