A recent study conducted by Archstone Consulting shows that many companies may soon be moving their manufacturing back to the U.S. Off-shore manufacturing used to provide savings for companies looking to lower costs, but lower costs domestically, coupled with heightened expenses abroad, are leading many manufacturers to take a second look at their supply chain operations and consider increasing domestic production.

Delivery costs, exporting costs and labor costs that were once low enough to justify off-shore manufacturing have all risen, leading companies to evaluate whether it is worth it to continue manufacturing operations abroad. Of the companies surveyed, 90% are either in the process of relocating manufacturing to the States, or are considering it as a serious option. This change has the potential to create significant manufacturing job opportunities for American workers.
