MSSC Certification Training

- 5/11/2009
The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) announces the first-ever training, testing and certification system for front-line material handling workers in all supply chain facilities: production sites, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters.

MSSC is issuing two industry-recognized, nationally portable credentials: the foundational-level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certificate and the mid-level Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) Certification. CLA is a prerequisite for CLA. There is no requirement that individuals take courses prior to taking the CLA/CLT assessments. However, those companies or affiliated colleges and high schools wishing to offer CLA/CLT courses need first to have teachers go through 2-day Instructor Certification Training or purchase the CLA/CLT Instructors Package.

The first location for CLA/CLT Instructor Certification Training is the Tarrant County College (TCC) Opportunity Center in Fort Worth TX. TCC is the lead trainer for the Hillwood Alliance TX Global Logistics Hub. Master Trainers from TCC are available to deliver Instructor Certification Training anywhere in the U.S. to classes of six or more. For details and prices on MSSC system tools and the 2009 monthly calendar for Instructor Certification training at TCC, contact Rebekah Hutton, Research Director, at rhutton@msscusa.org or at 703-793-9000, ext. 221.

The MSSC developed this new CLA/CLT certification system under a grant to the North Central Texas Workforce Board from the Employment and Training Division of the U.S. Department of Labor in cooperation with the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center.
