Oak Brook, IL – According to two market analysts, the slow demand dive in the logistics sector may be coming to an end. However both experts warn that, while the worst may be behind the freight sector, there are still plenty of hurdles between the current market and a full recovery.

Wolfe Research reports that 13 of the 14 freight indicators it tracks are "less worse" in this month's survey of the macro freight environment. But Wolfe cautions that freight demand in the long-term is still very difficult to predict due to the seasonality in the freight market.

"While freight has improved...much of the month over month improvement seems driven by better seasonality...While we continue to hear about sequential upticks in demand, this is normal in June but doesn't bode well for the seasonally slower July and August months."

KeyBanc Capital Market's Freight Research team says in a report this week that its Key Freight Indicators are "showing increased signs of stabilization." The KeyBanc report says: "Highlights this month include a 7.5% sequential improvement in containerized imports (compared to an average 3% sequential increase over the past nine years), further inventory reductions (down 6% year over year) and modestly stable housing trends (single family starts up 7.5% sequentially)."
