Oakes, ND – JLG Industries Inc.’s Oakes, ND, plant, which had been scheduled to close September 24, will stay open, according to parent company Oshkosh Corp.

A statement from Oshkosh said the plant will finish its work for JLG and then move on to other jobs for Oshkosh, which recently was awarded a military contract totaling more than $1 billion.

The JLG plant, which opened in 1972, is the third-largest employer in Oakes behind a hospital and a nursing home, according to Mayor Garry Opp.

U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan and Governor John Hoeven had previously spoken to Oshkosh CEO Bob Bohn about keeping the plant open.
