Fort Wayne, IN – General Electric Co. said that it intends to shut down in Fort Wayne, IN, where the company makes electric motors for golf carts and lift trucks at its Taylor Street plant.

Meanwhile, about 200 people will continue working to design, market and provide other services for GE’s motor-making operations, says Brayton Knotts, general manager of the Motors and Controls Business of GE’s Energy Division.

Most of the 24 jobs being eliminated are due to GE discontinuing products, but two to four jobs are being moved to a GE plant in Monterrey, Mexico.
