Firefighters battled an early morning commercial structure fire at Barloworld Handling LLC, located on Charleston Highway in the Cayce/Gaston area of Lexington Co.

According to Lexington County Fire Service Battalion Chief John Hendrix, fire crews got the call at approximately 6:57 a.m.

Firefighters with the Lexington County Fire Service arrived on scene and discovered the building full of smoke and a small fire in the break room area.

Fire crews say some employees of the business arrived at work, discovered the fire in the break room and partially extinguished the fire by using extinguishers.

Firefighters finished putting out the fire and, believe that a malfunction in a refrigerator in the break room area caused the fire.

Damages are estimated at approximately $10,000 and no one was injured during the incident.
