Sugar Land, TX—Exide Technologies, producer and recycler of lead-acid batteries, will invest $34 million to expand the facility on Joy Road in Columbus, Georgia, to accommodate a new manufacturing line. The company expects to create 200 jobs with the expansion of the facility and hopes to begin construction of the 45,000 sq. ft. facility by January 2010. Exide plans to have the project fully operational by January 2013. At full capacity, it will produce 72,000 batteries a year.
