New Bremen, OH—Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and a Crown Equipment Corporation forklift have one thing in common — each of them have recently held the cover spot on a national magazine. For the July 27 cover of ESPN The Magazine, the Crown forklift held Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and was operated by a Peterson fan who selected the All-Pro running back as his top pick in the ESPN Fantasy Football competition.

“To have our product featured on the cover of a magazine with an estimated readership of more than 14 million is very exciting for our employees and our sales force,” said Randy Niekamp, the New Bremen-based corporation’s vice president of human resources, in a news release. Niekamp told The Evening Leader the propane-powered lift truck on the cover has yet to be launched.

“We were basically using ESPN The Magazine as a sneak peek, a teaser,” Niekamp said. “I think it’s just one of those things — it’s created a lot of discussion and people asking ‘What’s this?’.”
