Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. has opened a parts distribution center in Clark County to serve The Manitowoc Co. Inc., a Wisconsin-based maker of cranes and boom trucks. The 141,000-square-foot facility is located in space leased from Capstone Realty Inc. at River Ridge Commerce Center.

The distribution center will be operated by Caterpillar Logistics Services, a subsidiary of Peoria, Illinois-based Caterpillar Inc.

It will serve as the master distribution center for Manitowoc’s crane parts to dealers worldwide. The River Ridge facility consolidates the Manitowoc’s previous warehouses in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Shady Grove, Pennsylvania.

The operation is expected to employ  45 people.
