Caterpillar Inc. and the American Red Cross have teamed up to create a Web site dedicated to employee and retiree contributions to help victims of disasters, contributions the Caterpillar Foundation will match.

The site, https://www.redcrossillinois.org/caterpillar, actually was set up last fall for contributions to victims of earthquakes, tsunamis, monsoons and typhoon that struck Southeast Asia and Pacific islands, said Caterpillar spokeswoman Bridget Young.

"We asked the Red Cross to provide us with a tool that would allow our global employees and retirees to easily contribute for disaster relief. This online donation system is unique because it allows an individual to contribute in their local currency without any issues," Young said.
Those using credit cards to make a donation can use the Web site. Log on and follow the instructions. Please remember to designate the contribution to "Haiti Disaster Relief Fund."
Employees of Caterpillar dealers should enter their dealership name and employee ID.

The deadline to make a donation that will be matched by the Caterpillar Foundation is February 13, the company said.
