Associated Funds Student Lounge
- 10/13/2009
In an effort to increase awareness about the
material handling industry, Associated Material Handling (Associated) has funded a new student lounge at the
Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Glendale Heights campus located at 601 Regency Drive. In celebration of the completed space, a dedication ceremony for students was held at UTI on Friday, October 9.
For many years Associated has hired UTI graduates as field service technicians. To further educate emerging technicians about careers in the material handling industry, Associated offered to create a new community space, which features nine workstations, computers with Internet access, wireless capability for laptop users, a learning center and flatscreen TVs.
“We are grateful to Associated for generously sponsoring the lounge, which gives our students a great place to study and relax,” said Pat Kellen, campus president of UTI Glendale Heights. “This is just another example of how the strong relationships UTI has across all the industries it serves enhances our student’s experience and training, and provides diverse career opportunities for graduates.”
Service support is one of the material handling industry’s most critical customer support functions. Today’s customers demand a high level of professionalism and communication, as well as technical ability. UTI graduates are trained to take this holistic approach when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Notwithstanding these difficult economic times, the continued growth and success of the material handling industry requires an investment in human talent, such as UTI students and graduates. This fulfills our industry’s commitment to provide sustainable value. Ultimately, the workforce of the future is our future.
“For the students and the academic community in general we hope this student lounge will create awareness for an industry in which the career opportunities are endless,” said Michael B. Romano, president/CEO of Associated Material Handling.
